“Voices of LA” Project


Are you waiting for your VOICE to be heard?

Are you a student in one of Los Angeles County’s High Schools, Colleges,
or Graduate Schools?

The Hollywood Master Chorale (HMC) is searching for aspiring composers to participate in the “Voices of LA” project, a two-year project to commission, perform, and record new works for chorus by Los Angeles composers.

Application and Requirements for Submission:

  • “Voices of LA” Project Application, or…
  • Call 323-960-4349 and leave your mailing address.
  • Please include a composition you have written, maximum of 5 minutes long.
  • You may include an Optional Supplement, such as a review, news article,
    or photo that highlights your talent and creativity.

Criteria: Will this project enhance the student’s goals and aspirations?
Does the student have the discipline to complete the project?
Attitude and community participation: Is the student involved in
his/her community?
The Composer will be asked to write music suitable to the voices of the
Hollywood Master Chorale.

Deadlines: Applications are due November 15, 2011.
Ten to twelve finalists will be interviewed on November 16, 2011.
Six Emerging Composers will be announced on December 5, 2011.
